To protect the shiny new paint on your car you need car wax to prevent the paint from fading. It is not enough to wash and dry your car to keep it shiny. For a car to maintain its showroom good looks a coat of car wax is required. Wash and dry the car before applying a coat of wax. Wax should be applied indoors away from natural elements for the best effect. .
You can buy gel car wax or liquid wax. Apply wax on the car using terry towels or chamois. Use a little car wax at a time to avoid a streaky effect. Rubbing the car with a circular movement will give you a smooth finish. For waxing the car without damaging the surface you should use a non abrasive wax. Rubbing car wax in gently till it is invisible is enough and too much pressure will not give the desired effect.
